Who We Are

Foundation Atlas Promotion was established in 2004 as a non-profit organization with the goal of creating work opportunities for the Berber people in the Middle and High Atlas. The organization, together with licensed and experienced Berber mountain guides, offers a broad range of mountain bike trips during which you can get a unique and intimate look at the Berber culture. Many of the overnight accommodations are in houses of the hospitable Berber people.

Because of our own Dutch representative in Morocco, we can offer a unique bridge between Western and Berber culture. When you travel with us you are in line for an adventurous mountain bike trip!

Our representatives in Morocco:

Steven and Hennie moved to Morocco from their native Netherlands in 1999, after making many adventurous trips to Morocco beginning in 1991. They have lead many groups through the Atlas Mountains.

Their son Mattias was born in Morocco. Steven has studied Moroccan Arabic, and Hennie the Berber language. They are both very much at home in the Berber culture. Every trip with them is in trustworthy hands.
