Oman has an increasing appeal for adventure cycling holiday enthusiasts. The landscape is so diverse that every cyclist will feel at home here. From rugged mountains to sand deserts, green oases, wadis, and deep canyons, the country is full of treasures waiting to be discovered. In 11 days, you will travel through the Hajar Mountains, discover a unique country, and experience unparalleled hospitality.

Day 1: Arrival in Muscat - Visit to Mutrah Souq

Arrival in Muscat - pick-up from the airport, transfer to the hotel. The program starts in the late afternoon with a visit to the Mutrah Souq and a relaxing walk along the boulevard, followed by dinner in local style.

Day 2: Stage 1 - Quriyat - Wadi Arbeyeen

(62 km - 630 m elevation gain)

After a transfer out of the urban area, we cycle into the impressive mountain landscape of the Eastern Hajar Mountains. Via beautiful wadis where we cross the water flow several times, we reach the waterfall of Wadi Arbeyeen. We stay in a nearby resort and, if desired, take a refreshing dip in the mountain water.

Day 3: Stage 2 - Wadi Arbeyeen - Salma Plateau

(58 km - 470 m elevation gain)

The day begins with a beautiful winding road through the wadi where we stayed, heading towards the coast. Then, we move eastward along beautiful cliffs. To our right, the mountains get higher, and we can already see where we will be during the third stage. We finish at our accommodation by the coast, where we can enjoy the breeze and rest.

Day 4: Stage 3 - Salma Plateau - Wahiba Sands

(49 km - 1000 m elevation gain & 1590 m descent

The Salma Plateau houses many of Oman's historical treasures. Beehive tombs reveal that people lived here over 4000 years ago. We cross this mountain plateau, ascending and descending, before descending again on the western side. Transport takes us towards the Wahiba Desert, where we will dine in Omani style and explore the sand dunes. Of course, with the sunset over the desert as the perfect end to a long but special day.

Day 5: Stage 4 - Rest Day

Today, we move to the Western Hajar Mountains. A two-and-a-half-hour drive. We stay in the old center of Oman: Nizwa. We visit the fort in this former capital and enjoy the buzz of this centuries-old town.

Day 6: Stage 5 - Nizwa - Misfat al Abriyeen

(57 km - 600 m elevation gain)

On Friday morning, the weekly goat market takes place in Nizwa. A spectacle that takes you back in time. A must-see, but we must get up early for it. Afterward, we cycle towards Al Hamra, where we enjoy coffee and tea on the terrace at sunset.

Day 7: Stage 6 - Misfat al Abriyeen - Jebel Shams

(48 km - 1590 m elevation gain)

We cycle towards Jebel Shams, the queen stage of our tour. Once at the top, we take an off-road route to reach the ultimate destination of our journey: The 'Grand Canyon of Arabia' at the edge of Jebel Shams. The views here are breathtaking.

Day 8: Stage 7 - Jebel Shams - Wadi Damm - Al Hamra

(63 km - 770 m elevation gain)

We descend off-road from Jebel Shams and explore Wadi Damm, where we might take a refreshing dip. We continue towards Al Hamra, where we stay in a guesthouse and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 9: Stage 8 - Al Hamra - Wadi Sahtan

(48 km - 850 m elevation gain)

We leave Al Hamra by car towards the top of Jebel Hatt. The view from the top is breathtaking. The descent towards Wadi Sahtan is steep and off-road. A technical descent, after which we make some beautiful detours before arriving at a true paradise accommodation. Depending on the group size, we may need to set up a tent.

Day 10: Stage 9 - Wadi Sahtan - Rustaq

(75 km - 610 m elevation gain)

After spending the night in the mountains, we make our way out of the mountains, enjoying the beautiful landscape one last time before finishing in Rustaq. After the transfer to Muscat, we relax by the pool.
